One of the great British impressionist painters who flourished between the two wars the work of William Lee-Hankey is highly valued and very beautiful. The artist studied initially at Chester School of Art and later at The Royal College of Art. He continued his studies in Paris He served in the Great War with the Artists Rifles. His career prospered with much of his output selected for major exhibitions - including 74 at the Royal Academy.

This work is typical fresh muted colours and historic interest. A large, lovely painting depicting St. Ives in its heyday.
