Verdun before the Great War
Oil on canvas, signed 12 inches x 18

Terrick Williams RA . RI., ROI
British
1860 - 1936

One of the fathers of British impressionism Terrick Williams has always been admired and his paintings treasured. This is simply one of the finest works he has produced - and he has painted many beautiful pictures both at home and abroad.

Verdun was the scene of the greatest carnage of the Great War and the town was largely destroyed. It has never returned to its former beauty and paintings like this have become an important historical legacy.
